Our Story
A mutual friend, Cara Lovenson (our flower girl and Richard's long time friend from middle school), played matchmaker and introduced us to each other in the Spring of "21. We both had been married for almost 30 years, and sadly we both lost our partners, whom we loved very much. Guy took the Bridgeport ferry from his home in Long Island to Richard's house in Connecticut for a blind date on Friday May 12th, 2021. What was intended to be a dinner date ended up lasting 3 days. Our lives have been intertwined ever since. Guy's home in Huntington, NY is 9 miles across the Long Island Sound (due directly south, as the crow flies) from Richard's home in Norwalk, CT. Fortunately, Richard is a boater and during the boating season we would make the trip by boat, sparing us the 65 mile drive through 6 counties to see each other. Guy had never been on a boat before and quickly took to it. Guy is now a licensed boater and we now own a boat together named "RichGuy". We love boating and decided to get married on a beautiful yacht in lower Manhattan. Travel is a passion for both of us. Since we have met, we have traveled to Florida, Colorado, Oregon, North Carolina, Vermont, Maine, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Italy, London, Mexico and Peru. Alaska and Peru were amazing cruises aboard the ships of the Silver Seas Cruise Lines. The picture above is taken at the Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska. We boarded a helicopter near our cruise ship and flew up there to take a husky pulled sleigh ride on the Iditarod trail. Guy Surprised Richard with a proposal and a ring. Future Silver Seas cruises include our honeymoon (Venice-Croatia-Greece) in July, The Galápagos Islands in December and Tahiti, Bora Bora and the Fiji Islands in February "25. In addition to traveling, Richard has introduced Guy to the world of classic car restoration. Guy knew nothing about auto mechanics when we started. We are in the process of restoring a "replicar", which is a 1954 MG TD convertible, his name is "SIMON" (the car driven by Ryan O'Neal and Ali McGraw in "Love Story") powered by a 1972 VW beetle chassis. Guy has personally (with my supervision) changed the brakes and rotors in several cars. No one is more astonished about this than he is.
We cherish our time together. We love to cook, bake and dine out. We hike. We love theater. We love movies. We are blessed with amazing people in our families and collection of friends. We are currently looking for a house to buy together. We want a big house where we can invite our family and friends to spend time with us. Guy's priority is a large Primary bedroom suite with a giant walk-in closet, dressing room and sitting area. Richard's priority is a 3 car garage with a workshop and a gourmet kitchen. We will be sure to let you know when we find it and invite you over.
